March 31st is World Backup Day, a day for people to learn about the increasing role of data in our lives and the importance of regular backups.

What is a backup?
A backup, or backup process, is the action of copying or archiving computer data so that it can be used to restore the original data in the event of data loss. Data loss can occur from accidental loss, database corruption, natural disaster or ransomware, to name just a few causes.
Why do I need a backup?
Having the correct backup solution for your business protects you against the loss of data, whilst the correct restore process can enable your business continue to run in the event of total loss, such as a fire. A backup can also be used to leverage your data, allowing you to run resource intensive tasks, all without impacting your production environment.
